parallel circuit

Cards (7)

  • in parallel circuits, components are seperately connected to the power source
  • if u remove one component, it will not affect the others
  • in parallel circuits, pd is the same for all components meaning identical bulbs connected will have the same brightness
  • in parallel circuit, the total current is the sum of all currents going though components
  • there are junctions where current either splits or rejoins, total current going into a junction must equal to current leaving
  • if you have two resistors in parallel, the total resistance is less than the sum of the individual resistors
  • the more branches in a parallel circuit, the lower the overall resistance as there is more direction for current to go in , increasing total current
