  • As a response to the guerilla campaign, the British destroyed their farms and moved Boer women and children to concentration camps leading to 25% of their pop. dying
  • Boers were forced to join the empire and learn English over Afrikaans (a type of Dutch) - boers saw themselves as an oppressed minority and wanted freedom from British control both saw themselves as superior to the Natives
  • Black Africans helped in the war - mostly for Britain but it was mostly seen as a “White man's war”
