  • Power
    The rate of energy transferred,
  • Energy transfer in a circuit
Battery stores chemical potential energy, transferred to electrons which move through wires, creating a current from positive to negative terminal, energy converted into light and heat by the bulb, electrons pushed back to the battery to be refilled with energy
  • Measuring current with an ammeter
Must go in series with the component to measure the current
  • Electricity
The flow of charge or charges like electrons carrying energy from a source to a component where the energy is released as another type of energy
  • Resistance
Property of components resisting the flow of current, necessary for components to work
  • Measuring PD with a voltmeter
Always connected in parallel to components, measures energy supplied to electrons
  • A diode only lets current flow through in one direction, with very high resistance in one direction and very low in the other
  • Power in electricity can also be calculated as Power (P) equals Voltage (V) times Current (I)
  • Blue wire is the neutral, Brown wire is the Live, Yellow and green wire is the earth wire for safety
  • If the resistors don't have the same resistance

Current is the same for both
  • Transformers are used to reduce energy loss due to resistance in cables. A Step-Up Transformer increases transmission voltage to over 100,000 volts, reducing current and energy loss. A Step-Down Transformer then reduces the voltage back to a safe 230 volts
  • States of matter
    • Solid
    • Liquid
    • Gas
