  • Confirmation - Often called a Personal Pentecost
    • Its purpose is to make our relationship with God stronger.
    • It deepens our baptismal life that calls us to be missionary witnesses of Jesus Christ in our families, society and the World.
  • Presentation of the candidates
    • This is where the priest, pastor, or deacon presents the candidates to the bishop.
  • Renewal of Baptismal promises
    - This is where they confirm their rejection of evil and where they embrace their faith.
  • Laying of hands
    • the Bishop stretches out his hand over the confirmand and calls down the power of the holy spirit.
  • The Anointing of Chrism
    • It is where the bishop anoints your forehead with the chrism Oil using his right thumb, saying “be sealed with the gift of the holy spirit”.
  • Wisdom - to know what is truly important.
  • Counsel - to judge between right and wrong and to choose what is right
  • Understanding - to know why it is important
  • Fortitude - to persist in doing the right thing with courage no matter what
  • Knowledge - to know god’s plan of salvation
  • Piety or reverence - To know that the god who created the universe deserves love and praise
  • Fear of the lord - having the right perspective of god’s almighty power and love, and our place in creation
  • Confirmation or chrismation is the 2nd sacrament.
    • Also called as “Chrismation” meaning “anointing with chrism”(in the east)
