  testing on live animals - similar bodies to humans

  can tell efficacy and toxidity
• stage 3 drug trials - clinical testing

  give to healthy voulenters and slowly increace dose

  find max dosage without side effects

  then give drug to people with illness and slowly increace dose
• clinical trials should be

  blind and use a placeobo
• double blind

  nor doctor or voulenter know which drugs have been taken
