inside bacteria

Cards (7)

  • Bacteria are all prokaryotic meaning no nucleus or any other structures that are surrounded by membranes.
  • Chromosomal DNA is loose in the cytoplasm.
  • Plasmid DNA is a small closed circle of DNA and can move from one bacterium to another which gives variation.
  • Flagella rotates and moves in a whip-like motion to move the bacterium.
  • Cell wall is made from cellulose and provides structure and protection.
  • Prokaryotic cells divide by binary fission (asexual reproduction).
  • Binary fission:
    1. Replication of chromosomal DNA and plasmids.
    2. Division of cytoplasm to produce 2 daughter cells.
