  • What is the first step of the Benedict's test?
    Add an equal volume or excess of Benedict's solution to the food sample in a test tube.
  • What is the second step of the Benedict's test?
    Place the test tube in a hot water bath for a few minutes.
  • What is the third step of the Benedict's test?
    If reducing sugars are present, a brick-red precipitate will form. If absent, the solution remains blue. Note the colour change.
