Ocean currents

• What are ocean currents?

  movements of surface wate, caused by wind blowing over the surface of the area.
• What do the currents set up?

  Loops or gyres. Because of the coriolis effect, they go clockwise in the north hemisphere and anti clockwise in the southern hemisphere
• Flying away from equator= Warm current. Eg. Gulf Stream
• Flowing towards equator= Cold current e.g Labrador current
