Low EE CGs = acknowledge the behaviours related to the illness
2: Hostility
Only in high EE CGs. Generally present and due to unmanageable anger, irritation and rejection of the patient
3: Emotional over-involvement
CG shows high levels of happiness, sadness, excessive self-sacrifice and extremely overprotective behaviour towards the patient. This is mainly evident in parent CGs - they expressed guilt over the illness which led to EOI
4: Warmth
Smiling, empathy etc. in interviews. usually evident in low EE CGs.
5: Positive regard
measured through number of reinforcing statements, expressing support and appreciation for the patient. Usually evident in low EE CGs.
