Defining abnormality

• Abnormality can be described as deviating from social norms
• All societies have their standards of behaviour and attitudes. Deviating form these norms could mean abnormality
• Cultures vary globally so there isn't one set of social rules
• Issue of defining abnormality is that it can be used to justify the removal of unwanted people from society.
• Another limitation of abnormality is what is considered as unacceptable can change over time.
