OCD

• OCD has two parts:

  Obsessions and compulsions

  Most people with OCD have both parts
• Obsessions are cognitive aspect of OCD

  Compulsions are behavioural aspect of OCD
• OCD has an emotional aspect causing anxiety, fulfilling compulsions helps anxiety
• OCD affects 2% of world population

  Symptoms develop in late teens early 20s
• DSM states if obsessions or compulsions last at least one hour each day this could be a clinical case of OCD

  • Contamination
  • Hoarding
