  • Epitherial (epithelium) tissue:
    • covering or lining tissue, cells very close together
    • function: secretion and protection
    • location: outer layer of skin and organs such as kidneys, heart, intestines etc
    • examples: blood vessles, lining stomach, nose, tounge
  • Connective tissue:
    • cells seperated by non-cellular matirial called matrix (can be hard or liquid)
    • Fuction: support, holds body parts together
    • Location: in between other tissues in all parts of the body
    • Examples: loose or dense CT, adipose tissue, cartilige, bone, blood
  • Skeletal muscular tissue:
    • attached to bones, are voluntary muscles
    • Function: contract to produce movement
    • Location: attached to bones via tendons
    • Examples: tongue, diaphram, eye socket, upper oesophagus
  • Smooth muscular tissue:
    • involantary, can't contract voluntaraly
    • no striations (smooth)
    • Fuction: help with digestion and nutrience collection
    • Location: in walls of viceral organs (exept heart)
    • Examples: liver, pancreas, intestines
  • Cardiac muscular tissue:
    • cannot be volantarily contracted
    • fuction: responsable for contracting (pumping) of the heart
    • location: thick middle layer of heart
    • example: heart wall
  • Nervouse tissue:
    • specialised nerve cells called neurons
    • fuction: to carry messages around body
    • location: brain, spinal cord, nerves
    • examples: CNS, PNS
