Infectious disease

• Sepsis initial antibiotics:

  • <28 days = benzylpenicillin and gentamicin
  • <3 months - cefotaxime and ampicillin/amoxicillin to cover for listeria
  • >3 months = Ceftriaxone
  • Children seen in primary care with suspected meningitis and a non-blanching rash = stat IM/IV benzylpenicillin
