  AMS provides a stronger Parliament than FPTP, by allowing a diverse range of political viewpoints in it’s proportional representation of smaller parties.

  A key role of the parliament is to hold the government to account, and with FPTP only two or three parties dominate parliament. This means that the government holds too much power and is not effectively held to account. Under the AMS, the PR system allows smaller parties to hold seats in parliament in it’s limit of the influence of large parties in parliament.

  In the 2021 General Election, the Conservatives won around 24% of the vote and hold around 24% of the seats in parliament.
