Salbutamol

Cards (5)

  • What is salbutamol?
    SABA
  • What are the indications of salbutamol?
    Asthma
    COPD
  • What are the side effects of salbutamol?
    Tachycardia
    Palpitations
  • What is the pharmacology of salbutamol?
    Target: b2 adrenoreceptors
    Activity: agonist (partial)
  • MOA - salbutamol
b2 adrenoreceptors are present on smooth muscle cells
Salbutamol binds to b2 receptors on smooth muscle in bronchioles -> activation of adenyl cyclase -> increased intracellular conc of cAMP -> activation of protein kinase A -> inhibits phosphorylation of myosin & lowers intracellular Ca+2 conc -> smooth muscle relaxation (bronchioles)
