Animal & Plant cells

Cards (12)

  • Structures of an animal cell:(5)
Ribosomes , cytoplasm, cell membrane, mitochondria, nucleus
  • Structures of a plant cell:(8)
Chloroplast, cell membrane, nucleus, cellulose cell wall, permanent vacuole, ribosomes, mitochondria, cytoplasm
  • Plant cells have a permanent vacuole, cell wall and chloroplasts but animal cells do not
  • Plant and animal cells are eukaryotes.
  • Nucleus: Controls all the activities of the cell and contains the genetic material of the cell.
  • Cytoplasm: A liquid gel in which the organelles are suspended in & where chemical reactions take place.
  • Cell membrane: Controls the passage of substances in and out of the cell.
  • Mitochondria: Where aerobic respiration takes place.
  • Ribosomes: Where protein synthesis takes place, producing the proteins needed for the cell.
  • Cell wall: Strengthens the cell & provides support
  • Chloroplasts: Contains chlorophyll & produce energy through photosynthesis.
  • Permanent vacuole: Filled with cell sap to help keep the cells rigid.
