Subdecks (1)

Cards (18)

  • Design = achieving goals within constraints
  • Goals: What is the purpose of the design we are intending to
produce? Who is it for? Why do they want it?
  • Constraints: What materials must we use? What standard
must we adopt? How much time do we have to develop it?
Are they health and safety issue?
  • Trade-off: Choosing which goals or constraints can be
relaxed so that others can be met.
  • THE GOLDEN RULE OF DESIGN
    Understand your materials
  • Understand computers
    Limitations, capacities, tools, platforms
  • Understand people
    Psychological, social aspect, human error.
  • To err is human
    • Bad interfaces cost money and cost lives.
    • It is the nature of humans to make mistakes.
    • Systems should be designed to reduce the mistakes and to minimize the
consequences when mistakes happen. (know how and where)
  • The central message – the user
    • Core of interaction design : put the user first, keep the user in the center and
remember the user at the end.
