Reliability in correlational research
To ensure reliability in our correlational research on screen time and Stroop test performance, we controlled the testing environment by conducting the Stroop task in a quiet computing room free from distractions. All participants completed the task at the same time of day (11am), reducing variability caused by factors like tiredness or hunger.
We also used standardised procedures, giving all participants the same instructions and ensuring researchers behaved consistently throughout. Finally, equipment reliability was maintained by calibrating all computers identically, ensuring that timing and display of stimuli were consistent across participants, helping to produce reliable and replicable results.
