• Occupations change in LICs and MICs:

  • small farms are bought by larger commercial farms so farmers become labourers
  • when people leave, there is less need for services, which close and the workers become unemployed
  • farm workers leave reducing food production
  • job competition decreases
  • remittances are sent back
