abuse - negative way of behaving towards an individual or certain group e.g. physical, emotional, sexual, financial or verbal abuse
direct discrimination - intentionally putting someone at a disadvantage or treating them unfairly based on differences
indirect discrimination - policy, practice or rule applies to everyone but has a detrimental effect on a particular group
prejudice - negative attitude of an individual or group based off personal opinion of differences
stereotyping - generalisations that are offensive and exaggerated made about a particular group
labelling - negative approach that identifies people as members of a particular group with the assumption "they are all the same"
bullying - threatening or humiliating someone, it is repeated behaviour intended to physically or psychologically harm. It is likely to happen when someone is in a position of power e.g. manager or to a vulnerable individual e.g. elderly
