Physics - Chapter 21

Cards (9)

  • Resistors limit the flow of charge in a circuit
  • Series resistors add
  • The same current (I) flows through each resistor in series
  • Individual resistors in series don't get the total source voltage but divide it
  • Resistors in PARALLEL add RECIPROCALLY
  • Each resistor in parallel has the same voltage of the source applied to it
  • Electromotive force (emf) - the potential difference of a source when no current is flowing (Units: Volts)
  • Junction rule: the sum of all currents entering a junction must equal the sum of all currents leaving the junction. Application of the conservation of charge
  • Loop rule: The algebraic sum of changes in potential around any closed circuit must be 0. Application of conservation of energy.
