Each of these definitions is interesting in its own way, and to some degree capture someof what Philosophy is about, or atleast what people think it's about.

A Philosopher’s way of thinking can be described as “Abstractive”. It rises from the level of everyday life to a higher level that gives a Bird’s eye view of the whole.

Philosophy produces “Insights” which means seeing with the mind. (Ferriols, 2001)

Pre-Socratic, the origin of western philosophy
Pre-Socratic, started to question the world around them.
Pre-Socratic, they sought to find a primary principle, known as archê, which was the basic material of the universe.
Pre-Socratic, it means “before Socrates” during 1903 by German scholar Hermann Diel.
Socrates was actually alive during the same time as many of the pre-socratic philosophers.
Pre-Socratic term relates to the differences in ideology and principles.

Thales, for him, Water is the archê (Evaporation and condensation)
Anaximander, for him, Apeiron is an element of undefined, unlimited, and indefinite substance.
Anaximenes, for him, Air is everywhere and has the ability to undergo processes and become transformed into other things, such as water, wind, fire, and even the earth.
Pythagoras, for him, (Numbers) mathematical relations and that it governs everything. Everything could be measured and predicted by the use of mathematics.
Heraclitus of Ephesus, for him, Change is constant. Change represents FIRE element and that everything was manifested by it. He popularize the notion that “one cannot step in the same river twice.
