MATH: TRIANGLE CONGRUENCE POSTULATES

Cards (14)

  • In a triangle, when the vertices of the two angles are the endpoints of the segment, the segment is said to be the INCLUDED SIDE of the two angles.
  • When the sides of an angle are the two sides of the triangle, then the angle is said to be the INCLUDED ANGLE of the two sides.
  • CPCTC- Corresponding parts of congruent triangles are congruent.
  • TRIANGLE POSTULATES:
    SAS Congruence Postulate
    ASA Congruence Postulate
    SSS Congruence Postulate
    SAA Congruence Theorem
  • SAS- If two sides and an included angle of one triangle are congruent to two sides and the included angle of another triangle, then two triangles are congruent.
  • ASA- If two angles and the included side of one triangle are congruent to two angles and an included side of another triangle, then the two triangles are congruent.
  • SSS- If the three sides of one triangle are congruent to three sides of another triangle, then the two triangles are congruent.
  • CONGRUENCE means having the same shape and size, and it is denoted by . The top part of the symbol, ~, is the sign for similarity and indicates the same shape. The bottom part symbol, =, is the sign of equality and indicates the same size.
  • PROPERTIES OF TRIANGLE CONGRUENCE
Reflexive Property of Congruence Symmetric Property of Congruence Transitive Property of Congruence
  • TRIANGLE -is a closed two dimensional shape with three straight sides. It is also a polygon. It has three sides, three Vertices, and three angles
  • The sum of the three interior angles in a triangle is always 180°.
  • By Translation (slide)from one position to another without turning it.
  • By Reflection (flip) -flipping a figure over a line.
  • By Rotation (turn) -turning the figure around a fixed point.
