• sociopaths are made - Nurture (socialisation)
• genetic theory suggests that criminals are born criminals to commit crime because it is in their genes. Their criminality is innate (natural).
• The theory emerged in the 1700s however, increase of research has re-emerged this time to explain anti-social behaviour.
