  • Emergency supplies (mostly food, water & medicine)
• Oxfam provides goats to people in several African countries:

  • Provides meat, milk & cheese
  • Waste = fertiliser for crops
  • Selling products/ goats generates income
• Intermediate technology example = Chambamontera, Peru (micro hydroelectric scheme):

  • Affordable
  • Provides jobs for local people
  • Provides electricity for local people
• Issues with international aid:

  • Corruption = aid does not get to the desired population
  • Dependency (by receiving aid a country may become dependent on it)
