Plant adaptations to water availability

    Subdecks (2)

    Cards (10)

      • Plants need to be able to photosynthesise to make food.
      • They need to get carbon dioxide and simultaneously lose water. This water is lost by transpiration through the stomata which must stay open all day to remove oxygen - another product of photosynthesis.
      • They must gain less water but lose it for turgor pressue and transport.
    • There are two types of plant:
      • Xerophytes- plants that are adapted to living in dry/arid conditions.
      • Hydrophytes - plants adapted to living in water or where ground is very wet.
