  • the magazine has a specific demographic target
  • women interested in lifestyle, fashion, the home
  • in france, womens liberation movements were underway in 1960-70s. this may of been seen as radical by the uk
  • the magazines funding was commercial. they needed lots of ads in their mags to make income. these ads therefore needed to be 100% relevant to the target audience
  • it closed in 2001. this was due to the concentrated magazine market - if it overcame these it would also struggle with the introduction of online media
