• Population decreased by 0.8% from 2005 to 2015 with some places experiencing an even higher drop (e.g. 4.3% in Barrow-in-Furness)
• Population decreased partly due to a decline in jobs as agriculture & manufacturing are big industries in Cumbria but they're both in decline.
• Ec - In Barrow-in-Furness, shops such as Gamestation have closed & others (e.g. Marks & Spencer) are at risk of closure ---> affects employment & the local economy.
• S - Younger people have left, leaving a higher proportion of older people ---> strain on medical services & social care. With further decline, schools & other services may be forced to close.
