• Discharge is the river flow past a fixed point. It is measured in cumecs.
• Rising limb is the increase in discharge.
• Peak discharge is when the river gets to the highest point.
• Lag time is the difference between peak rainfall and peak discharge.
• Recessional limb is when discharge decreases.
• Base flow is the normal level of the river.
