  • What is the first step in the process of how the law commission works?
    The law commission researches the area of law that needs reform
  • What is the second step in the process of how the law commission works?
    It publishes a consultation paper that seeks views on possible reform from lawyers, academics and anyone that has an interest in the area under investigation. The consultation paper will suggest options for reform.
  • What is the third step in the process of how the law commission works?
    Following responses to the consultation paper, the commission will then draw reform proposals presented in a research report. there will often be a draft bill attached to the report that can be considered by parliament.
