  He proposed a bio-psychosocial model of

  development: the developmental tasks at each

  stage are influenced by:

  ○ biology (physiological maturation and

  genetic makeup)

  ○ psychology (personal values & goals)

  ○ sociology (specific culture to which the

  individual belongs)
• In Robert J. Havighurst developmental tasks, if accomplished, pride and satisfaction are felt, and

  consequently earn his community/society’s

  approval.
• ERIKSON’S PSYCHOSOCIAL DEVELOPMENT

  named after a psychologist who specialized in child

  psychoanalysis
• Maladaptation - too much of the positive and too

  little of the negative.
• Malignancy - too little of the positive and too much

  of the negative.
