7. cell signalling

Cards (8)

  • cell?
basic unit which living organisms built. specialised for particular function
  • tissue?
group of cell types that work together to carry out one function
  • organ?
group of different tissues working together to carry out functions
  • organ system?
group of different organs working together for same function
  • what are adhesion molecules?
proteins/glycoproteins found on cell membrane. molecules have complementary shapes and bind to each other through tissue fluid that surrounds cells
  • what are receptor molecules?
? proteins inside a cell that receive a signal
  • what are master genes?
control development of segments of organisms. produce mRNA that translates to signal proteins (switching on genes responsible for producing proteins needed)
  • what is apoptosis?
programmed cell death, healthy animal cells die during normal development of an organism
