  • Acid rain occurs when the acidic levels in the atmosphere increases.
  • Causes of acid rain
    • Sulphur dioxide (SO2)
    • Nitrogen oxide (NO)
  • Dry deposition occurs when the acid formed in the atmosphere is carried by prevailing winds and deposited directly on the earth's surface.
  • Effects of Acid rain:
    1. Kills aquatic life
    2. Destruction of vegetation and buildings
    3. It affects the quality of water supplies
    4. Decrease in agricultural outputs
    5. Increased health hazard
