LDR in Thylakoid membrane

Cards (1)

  • Describe LDR process
    • Electrons in chlorophyll of PS2 absorb light + get excited
    • Enter ETC
    • To replace electron lost
    • Photolysis of H2O -> O2 + H+ + e-
    • As the e- moves down ETC
    • Energy is lost
    • Energy used to pump H+ from stroma into thylakoid
    • Creates electrochemical gradient
    • H+ diffuse down this gradient
    • Back into stroma
    • Through ATP synthase
    • Via chemiosmosis
    • Spinning of ATP generates proton motive force
    • Synthesis ATP from ADP + Pi
    • e- in chlorophyll in PS1 absorb light
    • If sufficient light absorbed, e- leaves ETC, reduces NADP into NADPH (non-cyclic photophosphorylation)
    • If insufficient light absorbed, e- re-enters ETC (cyclic photophosphorylation)
    • Products that go into LIR: ATP, NADPH
