  • Carolus Linnaeus proposed the Two kingdom System: Plantae and Animalia in 1758.
  • Euglena, a Unicellular organism possess animal characteristic and contained Chlorophyll and the two system fell.
  • In 1982, Margulis and Schwartz proposed a modified system using 5 kingdoms, the prokaryotae and four Eukaryote.
  • The five system was based off of these three criteria:
