  1. Hold toy car at starting point

  2. Let go of car

  3. Record time car passes each distance marker

  4. Repeat experiment with decreasing mass on end of string

  • Toy car, string, mass on end of string (all attached to each other)
• If mass on end of string is decreased, mass must be transferred to toy car to keep overall mass of object constant
• Acceleration of object


  Proportional to force applied (weight of mass on end of string)
• Investigating how varying the mass of the object affects the acceleration produced by a constant force

  1. Attach mass to toy car

  2. Record car as it accelerates

  3. Repeat experiment increasing mass attached to toy car

  Inversely proportional to mass of object
