  • Influence of the family will vary depending on the age of child
-also the relationship between the child and the parent.
-It may be that at a younger age the influence of family is much greater than it is for an older child.
-Therefore, suggests that family influence is not constant throughout the child's lifespan.
  • no guarantee that if child observes a behaviour they will definatly reproduce the action:
-there are mediating cognitive factors that will influence whether a behaviour is imitated or not.
-This means that motivations to behave in a certain way can be influenced by other sources.
-e.g. seeing a parent smoke doesn't mean the child will smoke to. It also depends on whether child is motivated to imitated the behaviour and whether they can reproduce it e.g. do they have access to cigarettes.
