Chile is one of the most earthquake-prone countries in the world. The people are used to drills and the 'drop, cover, hold' stratergy.
Chile is a HIC. This means they will be prepared, with good building quality and plenty of response resources. They did not need to depend on aid from other countries.
The government made clear decisions in preparation and response, meaning that recovery was well planned and successful.
