Endocrine system and the nervous system

• The endocrine system is responsible for slow and longer lasting response to stimulus
• The endocrine system is made up of chemical messengers, hormones, glands, sex organs, pancreas and responses
• The nervous system is responsible for rapid short term responses to stimuli
• The nervous system is made of the central nervous system and peripheral nervous system
• The peripheral nervous system is made up of sensory nerves and motor nerves
• Sensory nerves take information to the CNS while motor nerves take information away from the CNS
• The motor nerves are made from effectors: muscles and glands
• Responses in the endocrine system are widespread throughout the whole body
• receptors receive and detect stimuli
• thermo receptors detect temperature, photoreceptors detect light, mechanoreceptors detect pressure, sound and vibration
• reflexes are an immediate response to stimuli
