Athletes Foot

• Fungal infection therefore treated with antifungals
• Antifungals include: Clotrimazole, Miconazole and Econazole
• Recommend the once a day treatment as it is easier for patients
• Hydrocortisone for only 7 days to reduce itching and inflammation
• Terbinafine 1% for 16+, there is apply once or once daily for a week
• Refer if treatment failed, high discomfort , infection has spread to hands/nails
• Itchy, wet macerated areas between the toes, skin looks white and soggy
• Antifungal powder for socks and shoes
• Dry feet after washing , especially between toes
• Wear clean socks and remove shoes as much as possible
• Do not scratch skin or walk around barefoot
• Dont share towels or socks
• Wear breathable shoes like trainers instead of leather
