  • Oral rehydration sachets for fluid and electrolyte loss
  • Loperamide
    Immodium
  • Fybocalm can also be used in diarrhoea
  • Pepto bismol can be used in over 16 yrs
  • You must stay home for at least 48 hrs to avoid spread
  • Do not swim for 2 weeks
  • Refer if lasts more than 3 days or if unhelped by medication
  • Refer young children if it lasts for more than 1-2 days
  • Check for history of this to confirm not IBS
  • Passage of 3 or more loose or liquid stools per day
  • There may be irritation in the stomach, cramps, nausea and fever
  • Oral rehydration therapy ( Dioralyte) most common treatment as it helps with dehydration symptoms
  • Symptoms should go away in a few days, however reccomend loperamide if they want it to go away sooner
  • Loperamide, two tablets then one after each loose stool
  • Generally dont reccomend medicine to under 18 years
  • Loperamide shouldnt be taken more than 4 tablets a day for 2 days, see gp if not helping
