  • Reliability
    Internal- the extent to which the experience of the study is similar, its lowered by inconsistency, different environments and changes to participants moods. External- the extent the results of a study can be repeated on different occasions with different samples, its lowered by poorly reported/ hard to replicate procedures.
  • Checking reliability
    Split half- method is split in half and given to participants on different occasions, if the rating of the participants results are the same on both halves its reliable. Test-retest- method is given to participants on more than one occasion, if ratings of participants results are the same both times its reliable. Inter-rater- the extent to which two or more raters agree on a given behaviour , if there is agreement between the raters then the method is reliable.
