  • Techniques to have Organization in a Paragraph
    1. Physical Format - How text physically appears
    2. Signal Words - The cue in ordering of events and concepts
    3. Structure - This is a complete framework of the text
  • Physical Format
    • immediately apparent to the reader
    • how the text physically appears like headings and subheadings, bullet points, or font emphasis
  • Signal Words
    • textual cues that readers can use to follow a text
    • “signal” the transition from one point to another, the ordering of events and concepts, or the writer’s chosen type
  • Structure
    • provides the framework upon which the text is organized
    • consists of the following:
    1. Beginning: Introduction, Thesis Statement, Hook
    2. Middle: Supporting Details
    3. End: Conclusion, Summary, Final Message
  • Important Features of an Organized Text
    1. Focus - proper transition of events to make the paragraph clear
    2. Development - a good paragraph must have at least 4 sentences which explains and elaborate a topic sentence
    3. Unity - achieved when a paragraph is developed using one idea
