There are two major types of
sequences
:
Arithmetic
Geometric
An
arithmetic sequence
is a sequence where each term calculated by adding the constant in the previous term.
The constant between any two consecutive terms is always equal called
common difference (d).
The formula for the
common difference (d)
is: d = an − a(n−1)
Formula for the
arithmetic sequence/progression
in n-th term (an): an = a1 + (n−1)d
Formula for the arithmetic sequence/progression in n-th term (an): an = a1 + (n−1)d
where:
an = the
n-th term
a1 = the
first term
n = the
term number
d = the
common difference
The formula for the common difference (d) is:
d = an − a(n−1)
