  • Mild rashes do not normally need medication
  • Leave nappy off for long periods of time
  • Avoid fragrant soaps,creams or wipes which might cause irritation
  • Use cotton wool and water to clean nappy area opposed to wipes
  • Change nappies everytime they wet or soil
  • Change type of nappy used and use higher absorbance
  • Avoid plastic pants over nappy
  • Use a barrier cream with mild rash e.g dimeticone, zinc,caster oil, sudocream
  • For moderate rashes consider hydrocortisone cream
  • Fungal rash- sharp red margins, papules and pustules, may be satellite lesions
  • Bacterial rash- redness with exudate, papules and pustules, may have systemic symptoms
  • For fungal rash, topical antifungal creams and advise not to use barrier cream
  • For bacterial rash, oral antibiotics
  • Form of irritant contact dermatits
  • Usually last 2-4 days however for candida 10-21
