• Mebendazole first line treatment
• Mebendazole tablets or suspension
• Mebendazole can be prescribed from 2 years, 6 months to 2 years unlicenced
• Ovex (Mebendazole) is a one time treatment however everyone in the family should be treated, the infected person should have a second dose 2 weeks later
• Pregnant people and under 6 month olds should be treated with practical measures
• Wash all bed linen, towels and sleepwear in hot cycle
• Vacuum and damp dust home
• Rinse toothbrushes well and store in cupboard
• Wear close fitting underwear at night
• Shower every morning to remove eggs
• Wash hands and scrub under nails first thing in morning
• Avoid hands in mouth
• Cut fingernails short
• Wear gloves at night to prevent itching
• Avoid sharing towels
