  • Refer crusted scabies, crusted flaky rash often on elbows,knees, hands and feet
  • Lyclear (permethrin) cream
  • Derbax M (malathion) lotion
  • Crotamiton 10% cream for itchiness or if the mites have been eradicated, hydrocortisone 1%
  • Chlorphenamine, helps you sleep and reduce scratching
  • Use the whole tube over whole body after cleaning skin and allowing it to cool
  • Do not forget application to face, neck, ears and between fingers and toes
  • Reapply cream to hands if washed
  • Do not smoke or go near flames, it may worsen eczema/asthma symptoms
  • Avoid mucus membranes and open wounds with cream
  • Avoid washing for 24 hours
  • Permethrin okay in pregnancy and breastfeeding but refer to doctor
  • chlorphenamine for night time sedation to reduce scratching
  • Will need to be applied again seven days after first treatment
  • Wash all bedding and clothes at 60 degrees
  • Seal clothes that cannot be washed for 3 days to kill mites
  • Treat everyone in household twice, treat sexual partners within 8 weeks
  • Avoid sex/close contact
  • Do not share bedding, clothing or towels
  • Can return to work/school 24 hours after first treatment
  • Intensely itchy rash, local sensitivity and redness
  • Lots of red papules and lesions all over the body, older people may get on head and neck
