  • Avoid irritant/allergen
  • First line emmolients
  • 2nd line topical corticosteroids
  • Third line oral corticosteroids only in severe cases
  • Inflammation of the skin due to contact with allergen/irritant
  • Red/dark skin, itchy and blistered
  • Avoid irritant once known, apply emollients or weak corticosteroid
  • Allergens could be: metal jewellery, perfume, latex, plants or detergents
  • Usually after re-exposure
  • Can occur immediately or delayed onset (24 hours)
  • Will go away around a week after exposure aslong as exposure has stopped
  • In severe cases refer for oral corticosteroids
