Carbon is removed from the air by green plants and algae via photosynthesis. They use the carbon to make carbs, protein and fats. When they are eaten, carbon is moved up the food chain
Carbon is returned to the atmosphere when organisms respire. Decomposers also respire when they return mineral ions to the cell
Carbon is also returned to the air when fossil fuels are burned as they contain carbon from photosynthesis
What is the process of the water cycle?
Transpiration/Suns energy causes water from sea to evaporate and form water vapour
Water vapour condenses into a cloud
Water is returned to land by precipitation which then flows to lakes to provide water for animals
This then runs into sea and the cycle begins again
