Desensitisation and priming

• Violence in media cause desensitisation, disinhibition and priming
• Desensitisation = Anxious reaction to violence and aggression we respond emotionally to it

  Repeated exposure to media violence this response making people desensitised to violence
• Disinhibition = Most of time people have inhibitions about behaving aggressively its seen as unacceptable behaviour.

  Violent media may make behaviour seem acceptable
• Cognitive priming = Cues associated with media violence may trigger aggression when we see in real life

  Violent material we see in media is stored as memory connected to other violent memories
